In this piece I used a blue commercial glaze which is no longer available, unfortunately, because it is so beautiful. I love the proportions of the piece and the way it gets wider from the foot to the top of the piece. The coils around the piece is what makes the piece visually interesting, because of their complexity, the way they encapsulate the main body of the piece, and the way the piece shows symmetry and asymmetry at the same time.
This piece is part of the work created for an exhibition entitled “Compositions on blue and ceramic studies” which took place in gallery Espaço Q, between 8 and 27 June 2019, and featured abstract paintings and ceramic pieces surrounding the theme of blue.
In this group of works I tried different combinations of slip and glazes, in order to achieve the widest possible range of blues.
